Approach to Learning
To be a rabbi is to be conscious of standing between past and future — to embrace being an inheritor of a rich and ancient tradition as well as the author and innovator of an ever emergent Judaism and people. This insight guides our educational approach.
At the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, students delve deeply into the wisdom of the past and are supported in their quest to find their own authentic voice in Jewish tradition. Our learning model is holistic, addressing the educational needs of the mind, heart and "neshama" (spirit). Blending the best of the academy and the yeshiva, we enable our students to acquire deep knowledge of Torah, cultivate sustaining communal connections and develop nourishing spiritual practices rooted in Jewish tradition.
Through their learning, students graduate prepared to be guides and companions for the Jewish people and to contribute creatively to the ongoing evolution and emergence of Judaism.
