Korman Chair in Inclusive Jewish Education
This endowed professor provides academic and entrepreneurial leadership, vision,
and scholarship for our Center for Inclusive Jewish Education and serves as a core
faculty member of our Shoolman Graduate School of Jewish Education. The Korman Chair
will teach and mentor graduate students, build and sustain partnerships with academic
and community-based organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of Jewish education
for diverse learners including children with special needs, and innovate professional
development systems and services.
The ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
- PhD, EdD, or equivalent degree
- Demonstrated academic leadership skills
- Excellence in teaching at the graduate level, including experience with on-line
and distance learning technologies
- Experience in research, service, and/or advocacy for children with special needs
and inclusive education
- Experience with formal or informal education of children with disabilities in the
Jewish community
Specific areas of expertise may vary but could include:
- Jewish education
- Interdisciplinary teamwork for assessment and intervention
- Family engagement and parent support
- Differentiated curriculum & instruction
- Early childhood education
- New technologies and social media platforms for learning and inclusion
- Positive youth development
- Community partnerships for education excellence and affordability

Major Gifts Officer (Posted August 17, 2011)
Hebrew College currently has a position available for a Major Gifts Officer who is
a highly energetic individual with a track record of building donor relationships,
closing gifts in the five and six figure range and will:
- Solicit gifts of $50,000 and higher from alumni, and others who identify with the
mission of Hebrew College.
- Manage relationships with approximately 75-100 prospective donors and identify, qualify,
cultivate, solicit and steward these very important alumni and friends of the college.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers, advancement staff, and other College representatives
to cultivate and solicit donors for college-wide priorities.
- Monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful relations.
- Recommend and assist with advancement programs involving the President, Vice President
for Institutional Advancement, and volunteer leaders.
- Be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships
and closing gifts in the five and six-figure range.
- Report to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and work collaboratively
and strategically with advancement professionals, faculty, and other campus leaders.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of key prospects.
- Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
- Initiate contacts with potential major gift donors
- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies including working with volunteers
- Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and
closure
- - Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards;
demonstrate empathetic disposition, persevere; reflect an optimistic attitude, and
convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
- Work collaboratively with advancement officers, faculty and key leadership. Offer
prospect strategy counsel to colleagues who are managing other prospects.
- Focus on securing support for a set of campus-wide priorities in line with the goals
of the strategic plan.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred
- Five to seven years successful experience in major and/or planned gift fundraising
preferably in higher education and /or Jewish communal work.
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift donors and the role these
needs and interests play in developing donor's connections with the college.
- Interest in our educational mission, and a commitment to promoting the college's
fundraising priorities by developing excellent relationships with faculty, senior
academic leaders, volunteers, and the advancement team
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or
diverse areas.
- Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and
solicitation strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
- Must be willing to travel.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
