Admissions Process

The admissions process begins by contacting the Hebrew College Admissions Office to learn more about your program of interest.
The next step is to submit your application for admission. After you submit your initial application form, you can submit the rest of your application materials.

At any time during the inquiry and application process, you are encouraged to arrange a campus visit (schedule an appointment by contacting Admissions).

Selection of Candidates

Admissions decisions are based on a careful review of a candidate's completed application, credentials, supporting documents and appropriateness for the degree program. Applicants for graduate degree programs must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a competitive grade point average.

Hebrew College admits qualified students without regard to age, sex, religion, disability, race, color or national origin. An application for financial aid does not in any way affect a candidate's application for admission.

Interview

The interview is an essential and required part of the application process for all Hebrew College graduate degree programs. This is an opportunity for us to get to know you better; for you to visit the campus, sit in on classes and meet students; and to learn more about the College and program for which you are applying. Though on-campus interviews are preferred, if you live far from campus and are unable to travel, a phone or skype interview may be arranged. Guidelines for Certificate Programs

Applicants for graduate certificate programs must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a competitive grade point average. The following certificate programs do not require a bachelor's degree: Early Childhood Jewish Education, Jewish Special Education, Jewish Sacred Music and Jewish Music Education.

Policy on Transfer Credit

Hebrew College accepts transfer credit from accredited educational institutions in the U.S. and from academically recognized schools and colleges abroad. Applicants wishing to transfer credit from foreign colleges or universities must have their transcripts professionally translated from a foreign language and/or have them evaluated by an agency specializing in translating foreign credits into the American semester-hour system. Applicants are responsible for the cost of these services. For a list of acceptable organizations which can translate transcripts, contact the Registrar’s office. In all cases, an official, sealed transcript from the Registrar’s office is required. All transcripts are reviewed by Admissions, Provost’s and Registrar’s offices. Courses which are deemed relevant to the student’s program may be transferred upon approval. A minimum grade of C is required for transfer of undergraduate credit; a grade of B or higher is required for transfer of graduate credit. The total number of credits permitted to be transferred for an individual student varies by program.

No college, including Hebrew College, is required to accept for transfer any credits presented on other college’s transcripts. Each institution has the right and responsibility to judge and decide which credits and how many credits will or will not be accepted. Additionally, no college, including Hebrew College, can guarantee that any or all credits shown on its transcript will be accepted by another institution.
