The Honorable Stuart Eizenstat is among a group of distinguished American Jewish leaders who have joined the growing National Board of Hebrew College. The newly established board reaches out to a national constituency of potential students and leaders to enhance the College's presence and visibility across the country as a major force in shaping and transforming Jewish life.

Stuart EizenstatIn January 2002, President David M. Gordis announced the appointment of Ambassador Alfred H. Moses of Washington, D.C., as Chair of the National Board. A distinguished American Jewish leader, Ambassador Moses has over 40 years of domestic and international experience as an attorney, negotiator and diplomat.

Elie WiezelIn addition to Eizenstat, Chair of the American Friends of the Weizmann Institute in Israel, new board members include Shoshana Cardin, Board Chair of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency; Los Angeles attorney Howard I. Friedman, Board Chair of the Wilstein Institute, Board Chair of the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles and Honorary President of the American Jewish Committee; Michael Gould, CEO of Bloomingdale's; Gershon Kekst, President of the NYC-based strategic communications consulting firm Kekst and Co.; Dr. Henry Rosovsky, Geyser University Professor Emeritus at Harvard University; Nobel laureate and author, Professor Elie Wiesel of Boston University (hon.); Leon Wieseltier, literary editor of The New Republic; and Dr. Ruth Wisse, Professor of Yiddish Literature and of Comparative Literature at Harvard University. President Gordis will convene the board's first meeting, to be held at the Newton Centre campus this spring.
