Over 60 people attended last April's first rehearsal of Koleinu, the Jewish Music Institute's newest choral group. Co-founded by the Institute's director, Dr. Scott M. Sokol, and singer Larry Kozinn, the nonaudition choir is open to anyone, from experienced singers to those with no choral background.

Koleinu's immediate goal is to offer an opportunity for people to sing Jewish music in a fun, cooperative environment. "We've had nearly 200 inquiries," says the group's director, Carol Marton, who also leads the Temple Sinai choir in Sharon, and Pandora's Vox, a women's vocal ensemble. "It's an exciting sign of the health of Jewish community and culture in Boston that so many people want to sing Jewish music."

Rehearsals are on Thursday nights at Hebrew College. For information, call 617-559-8649. And, as they say in the choral world, tenors especially welcome!
