Just in time for the High Holidays, MyJewish-Learning.com (MJL)—the Internet's newest and largest Judaic-content website, created by Hebrew College and Jewish Family & Life! Media—went live for a special preview launch. Members of the College community and others are browsing the content, enjoying the audiovisual features, trying out the links—and sending in their feedback.

By October, over 1,800 people from around the world had already registered to receive additional information about the site, with thousands more expected, according to Managing Director Harry Bloom. "We've had visitors from South America, Asia, Europe and all of North America," says Bloom.

"Your site looks very interesting! I look forward to learning a lot about Judaism," wrote David Lantos from Tokyo. Vicci Morris of Pennsylvania commented, "This site is wonderful! It is clearly written and organized and very comprehensive. Everything anyone would want to know is here. My non-Jewish spouse especially liked the way it is organized for ease of use."

Other visitors include rabbis who are eager to share MJL with their congregants, and school principals who will introduce the website to their teachers and students. As part of the preview activity, MJL is also soliciting feedback from its partners, Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, Hadassah and the Jewish Community Centers of North America.

MJL is the brainchild of World Jewish Congress President Edgar M. Bronfman, who engaged Hebrew College and JFL to develop and produce the website and provided lead funding. Key to the site's development has been the collection of reliable and broad-based content. Partnerships have been forged with the Jewish Publication Society, Jason Aronson Publishers and Behrman House Publishers to access their materials, within strict permission guidelines.

Hundreds of articles are now posted, with 2,000 total articles expected by the end of the development phase in September 2003, including original material as well as excerpts from major sources in the field. Under the leadership of Hebrew College Provost Barry Mesch, the College's faculty has formed a scholars' panel to review and ensure the quality and accuracy of content.

MJL will be featured this November at COMDEX as part of Hebrew College Online's Fall 2002 display at the international high-tech exposition.
