Please join us on Sunday, June 1, for Hebrew College's 83rd Commencement Exercises. We welcome Rabbi Irving “Yitz” Greenberg, former president of the Jewish Life Network/Steinhardt Foundation and founder of The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership (CLAL), as our commencement speaker. He will also receive an honorary degree.

We will celebrate the graduation and ordination of our first class of 11 rabbis from the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College, as well as two cantors from the second graduating class of the Cantor-Educator Program. In addition, 64 graduates will receive master’s degrees and certificates. A separate ceremony will be held for the 132 graduates of Prozdor. In addition, 175 Me'ah graduates from Greater Boston sites will receive certificates.

The 149 Me’ah graduates from the Northeast Region will receive certificates on May 18 in a separate ceremony held in New York City. Also in local ceremonies, 18 Me’ah graduates from Baltimore and 16 Me’ah graduates from Binghamton, New York, will receive certificates this spring.

  • Rabbinical School Ordination Program: 2:30 p.m., Berenson Hall
  • Cantor-Educator Ordination Program: 2:30 p.m., Gann Library Bet Midrash

Directions and Parking

Commencement Exercises will be held on Hebrew College's campus on Herrick Road. There will be no parking on the campus grounds. Ample free parking has been arranged at the Newton South High School parking lot. Free shuttle bus service will provide transportation from Newton South to the campus. Please allow 30 minutes from the parking lot to the campus. The shuttle buses will run continuously from 8:15 a.m. until the end of the festivities.

For those arriving via public transportation, there will be a shuttle bus at the Newton Centre MBTA stop, Green Line, D train.

Directions to Newton South High School
140 Brandeis Road


  • From Boston or western suburbs via Route 9:
    Take Route 9 to Parker Street. Turn south onto Parker Street (from Boston turn left; from western suburbs turn right) and take the first left onto Hagen Road. Proceed to Brandeis Road and turn left.

  • From Boston via Beacon Street:
    Take Beacon Street to Newton Centre and turn left onto Centre Street. Immediately bear left onto Cypress Street and stay in the right lane as the road becomes Parker Street. Proceed on Parker Street approximately one-half mile over the Route 9 overpass and take the first left onto Hagen Road. Proceed to Brandeis Road and turn left.

  • From 1-95/Route 128:
    Take Route 9 east to the Parker Street exit. Turn right onto Parker Street and take the first left onto Hagen Road. Proceed to Brandeis Road and turn left.
