Article Search Guide
The Rae and Joseph Gann Library offers online access to hundreds of electronic journals. You can search for a journal title in Serials Solutions to learn whether the College has electronic or hard copy access to a journal, and to find the article in full text, if available. Many titles will link directly to the journal's home page, where you can then search by title, author, subject, or issue to find full-text articles. Please note that not all issues of a journal may be online, and some may not be in full text. If the article you want is not available, please request it through interlibrary loan.

You may use the following databases for simultaneous searches in hundreds of journals:

Anthropology
Anthropological Index Online: Based on the journal holdings of The Anthropology Library at The British Museum going back to 1957, this index includes periodicals in all branches of anthropology, from many academic institutions and publishers around the world.

Education
ERIC contains citations (and some full-text articles) on a broad range of education-related issues.

General
Expanded Academic ASAP includes articles in many scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers, many with full text and images. This database encompasses all academic disciplines, from arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology. Part of the InfoTrac group of databases.

General Reference Center Gold covers current events, popular culture, business and industry coverage, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies and more. It includes articles from reference books and periodicals, many with FULL TEXT and images. Part of the InfoTrac group of databases.

Jewish Studies
ATLAS Religion Database: The American Theological Library Association's ATLAS database includes thousands of citations and full-text articles from a wide variety of theological and religious journals, including a comprehensive "scripture reference" index.

EBSCOhost Electronic Journals Service This database allows you to perform combined searches in more than three dozen theological and educational e-journals."

Index to Jewish Periodicals is a comprehensive guide to articles, book reviews, feature stories, and other contents in English, appearing in more than 170 periodicals devoted to Jewish affairs.

ProQuest Religion covers more than 120 major journals in the field of theology, many since 1996. ProQuest Religion is a comprehensive source for religious news and commentary, and is completely searchable through a combined search across all journals. With most of its articles in full text, ProQuest Religion is designed to meet the research needs of theological and general academic programs. Publication List

*AJS Review, the Journal of the Association for Jewish Studies, publishes scholarly articles and book reviews covering the field of Jewish studies from biblical and rabbinic textual and historical studies to modern history, social sciences, the arts and literature. Each volume also features reviews of the latest scholarly Judaica and review essays on current trends in publishing, as well as contents of collected studies, and lists of books received.

*American Jewish History (March 1996– ) is the official publication of the American Jewish Historical Society, the oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United States founded in 1892. The most widely recognized journal in its field, AJH focuses on most every aspect of the American Jewish experience. Recent issues and articles have featured American Jewish women's history, Jews in American sports, the Jewish community of South Florida, antisemitism and the Civil War, the labor movement, business enterprise, Zionism, immigrants, and the Holocaust.

*East European Jewish Affairs (formerly Soviet Jewish Affairs) is an interdisciplinary journal that covers Jews in the former Soviet Union and the countries of East-Central Europe. It deals with issues in historical perspective and in the context of general, social, economic, political, and cultural developments in the region. The journal includes analytical, in-depth articles; review articles/reviews; documentary-archival; conference notes; and annotated books. It is published under the aegis of the Department of Hebrew and Jewish Studies, University College London and the Oxford Institute for Yiddish Studies.

*Educational Theory is devoted to publishing scholarly articles and studies in the foundations of education, and on related disciplines outside the field of education, which contribute to the advancement of educational theory. It is published on behalf of the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and co-sponsored by The John Dewey Society, the Philosophy of Education Society, and the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

*EDUCAUSE Quarterly is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to planning for, developing, managing, evaluating, and using information resources on college and university campuses.

    *Harvard Education Letter reports, interprets, and critiques new research and innovative practice in preK–12 education. Founded in 1985 and published bimonthly by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, it reports on the work of teachers and researchers throughout the world, approaching timely issues from multiple perspectives.

    *Harvard Educational Review is a scholarly journal of opinion and research in the field of education. Each quarterly issue of the Review is book length, containing a variety of articles, essays, and book reviews.

    *Harvard Theological Review is published on behalf of the faculty of Harvard Divinity School and covers the history and philosophy of religious thought in all traditions and periods, including the areas of Judaic studies, Hebrew Bible, New Testament, early Christianity, archaeology, world religion, comparative religious studies, theology and ethics.

    *Holocaust and Genocide Studies offers literature and documentation on the Holocaust and genocide. It features essays and reviews that cut across the disciplines of history, literature, economics, religious studies, anthropology, political science, sociology and others.

    *Israel Horizons is published five times a year by Meretz USA, a US organization that supports peace efforts between the State of Israel and its neighbors.

    *Israel Studies presents multidisciplinary scholarship on Israeli history, politics, society and culture.     *Journal of Jewish Thought & Philosophy provides an international scholarly forum for Jewish thought, philosophy, and intellectual history and is aimed to cover philosophy, biblical studies, mysticism, literary criticism, political theory, sociology and anthropology.

    *Journal of Palestine Studies is devoted to Palestinian affairs and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and offers information on the region's political, religious and cultural concerns. Published quarterly. [On-campus access only]

    *The Journal of Religion (formerly known as The American Journal of Theology) promotes critical and systematic inquiry into the meaning and import of religion. Not limited by ideological orientation, this quarterly journal embraces all areas of theology (biblical, historical, ethical, constructive) as well as other types of religious studies (literary, social, psychological, philosophical).

    *Journal of Religious Ethics emphasizes comparative religious ethics; foundational, conceptual and methodological issues in religious ethics; and historical studies of influential figures and texts. Each issue contains independent essays, commissioned articles and book reviews.

    *Journal of Semitic Studies refers to the modern as well as the ancient Near (Middle) East, with special emphasis on research into the languages and literatures of the area. Each volume contains items of interest to Orientalists and Biblical scholars as well as reviews of selected books and general review notices.

    *Journal of the American Academy of Religion is an international quarterly journal that covers the full range of world religious traditions together with studies of the methodologies by which these traditions are explored. Each issue also contains a large book review section.

    *Modern Judaism provides an interdisciplinary forum for discussion of the modern Jewish experience since the Haskalah, the Jewish Enlightenment of the 1800s.     The *Torah u-Madda Journal is an annual devoted to the interaction between Judaism and general culture. This publication by the Torah u-Madda Project at Yeshiva University, explores the complex relationships between Torah, the humanities, and the natural and social sciences.
