How to Renew Materials, Place Hold Requests
and Check Course Reserves

Renewals
To renew your materials or/and place hold requests on checked-out items via the library's online catalog:
  1. Access the online catalog (ALEPH).
  2. Renewals: To renew your materials, click on My Library Card. Fill in your ID number (HC students, faculty and staff) or bar code number (Gann Library members) in both identification fields. Click Log On to proceed and then click on Loans. Choose the checked-out item you wish to renew by clicking on the record number and then on Renew.

Hold Requests
Library users may place hold requests on items that are already checked out. Patrons may also cancel hold requests if an item is no longer needed.

Please note: Hold requests may be placed only on items that have already been checked out.

To place a hold request: Do a search for the item and click on the number of the result. Click Library Info and choose Request. Enter your Student ID or library member barcode twice. In the Hold Request form, make sure the period of interest (i.e. the date) is correct and click Go. Placing a hold will prevent the book from being renewed and will take effect after one circulation period (the length of which may vary).

Check Course Reserves
To check course reserves, go to the Course Reserves search page. Type in a keyword and/or choose an index from the drop-down menu.
