A dynamic community of online learners, with a personal touch
As an MJEd candidate, you will join a dynamic community of online students from around the country and the world in an interactive virtual classroom with Hebrew College faculty. You will also build a personal relationship with your faculty adviser, who will help you to create an individualized program and who will serve as your mentor and guide.
Hebrew College is a pioneer in online Jewish education and offered the first online Master of Arts in Jewish Studies degree program on the Internet. Many of our faculty have been teaching in the online environment for over a decade and are devoted to creating a meaningful learning experience through this medium.
A program of Jewish studies designed especially for today’s Jewish educator
Our Jewish Studies component is uniquely designed to enable students to apply Judaic content knowledge to a variety of educational settings. At the same time, students have the opportunity to deepen and enrich their knowledge of Jewish texts, Jewish history and Jewish life and values.
Opening doors to career opportunities
Hebrew College MJEd graduates find meaningful work in a wide variety of settings, including Jewish day schools, congregational schools, youth groups and camps. Professional opportunities include classroom teacher, curriculum developer, Jewish special educator, early childhood director, congregational family educator, youth leader, and camp director.
Basic MJEd requirements
Students must demonstrate proficiency in reading and comprehension of basic biblical Hebrew texts as well as a working knowledge of fundamental modern Hebrew.
Hebrew College also offers the MJEd in conjunction with a Bachelor of Jewish Education or a Master of Arts in Jewish Studies, as well as in conjunction with Rabbinical or Cantorial Ordination.
