HorizonMedia Audio Installation Problem

HorizonMedia is one of the programs you’ll need to use the Live Classroom environment and others. It is installed by the Live Classroom wizard, but sometimes the installation doesn’t finish; either no sound works or you get a pop-up window with errors. Try these steps if your installation fails.

  1. Exit out of the Live Classroom wizard.
  2. Bring up My Computer, either by using the icon on your desktop or clicking on the Start button and then finding it in the top right of the window that pops up.

    My Computer
  3. Look for the hard disk drive "(C:)." There is an arrow pointing to it in the sample screenshot above. Yours will have a different name but you should see the "(C:)." Double-click on the drive’s description to bring up a window like this:

    C Drive

  4. Double-click on Documents and Settings. This will bring up a list of folders such as Administrator, All Users, folders with the names of the PC’s users, and Default User. Double-click on the folder with your name or the name of the person you are logged in as; if it's not there, double-click on Default User. A list of folders similar to this displays:

    User Folders

If you are not seeing the Application Data folder, you need to change your settings. Go to the Tools > Folder Options menu. Click on Show Hidden Files and Folders and OK.

Folder Options

  1. Double-click on the Application Data folder.
  2. Locate and double-click on the Horizon Wimba or Wimba folder.
  3. Double-click on the JSecureDoor folder.

Horizon Wimba folders

  1. Click once on the horizonmedia_0.1.0 folder to highlight it.
  2. Press the Delete button. Respond “Yes” if prompted to remove the folder and its contents from your system.
  3. Close all open programs. Shut down your computer. Turn it back on after it has been off for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Rerun the Live Classroom setup wizard (http://hebrewcollege.horizonlive.com).
  5. When you get to the “Connecting to HorizonMedia” window, click on the Click Here to Start. It takes a long time to load. Walk away from the PC for at least 5 to 10 minutes (a lot longer if on a dial-up connection.) If you start to hear sound, then HorizonMedia has installed. You must wait until the sound stops before trying the microphone test.

You should be able to complete the wizard with all tests passed.
