Financial Aid

At Hebrew College, we support students through the rewarding and challenging process of becoming a rabbi in a holistic way, including helping students to manage their financial obligations. We have three programs to ease the financial burden on students.

Need Based Financial Aid

Our approach to financial assistance is straightforward. We provide aid according to need and define need as the difference between your educational costs and the amount you can afford to pay. Each year, the college gives a significant amount of need-based tuition assistance to students. In 2011-2012, 80 percent of students who applied for need based aid received support, many of them at our highest level of 30 percent reduction in tuition. Students apply for this aid by filling out the Financial Aid form as part of the application. Because Hebrew College is a fully accredited educational institution, our need-based aid includes subsidized government student loans.

Merit Fellowships

Each year, we award several merit based scholarships to incoming rabbinical students. Recipients receive $10,000-$15,000 per year for the first three years of the program. These fellowships are competitive and are allocated based on academic achievement, leadership potential and demonstrated commitment to the core values of the Rabbinical School.

Placement Support

Many students also need to find other sources of income to support them and pay for school. Our Director of Placement and Professional Development works with students to help them find appropriate part-time work during school.
